Today's reflection:
Pingyao, China
Walking along the ancient walls of Pingyao, one of the best-preserved fortified cities in China, it feels as though time moves at a different pace.
The streets, courtyards, and old shops tell stories of centuries of change, yet many things continue to follow their own rhythm, regardless of the wishes of those who observe them.
When we are young, or simply full of enthusiasm, it is easy to believe that solving problems mainly means changing other people, correcting the world, or persuading others to see things as we do.
With time, however, we begin to recognize how limited our influence over other people's choices really is.
This does not mean becoming indifferent or giving up on improving what does not work.
It means understanding that the most immediate and meaningful change always begins with ourselves: with the habits we cultivate, the reactions we choose, and the way we face life each day.
Often, the deepest transformation of the world begins in the closest place we can truly reach: our own heart.
